Device (1) arranged on the drive end (2) of a camshaft (4) positioned in the cylinder head of an engine comprises a drive unit (5) connected to the camshaft and a driven unit (10) connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the camshaft. At least the drive unit is made of a light metal or a plastic and is axially fixed on the camshaft using a central fixing screw (13). The drive unit is rotatably positioned externally to the driven unit and is connected to the driven unit in a force-transferring manner via at least two hydraulic pressure chambers. When the pressure chambers are impinged upon by a hydraulic agent, relative rotation or fixing of the driven unit relative to the drive unit and of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft occur. The region of the force cone of the fixing screw on the driven unit is configured as a separate sleeve (16) consisting of a compressive strain-resistant material. The driven unit is axially, radially and peripherally locked in a form and/or force-locking manner on the sleeve and is screwed in a deformation-free manner on the camshaft.
