The vehicle comprises systems for automatic viewing-direction detection, automatic detection of obstacles, automatic vehicle control and/or for spacing-distance control. The type of operation is provided in which the systems for automatic detection, control and/or spacing-distance control are activated when the system for automatic direction detection establishes a lack of attention by the driver. These systems are made inactive when the system for automatic direction of viewing detection establishes that the driver is sufficiently attentive. An Independent claim is given for a method of operating a vehicle equipped with an automatic viewing direction detection system.
