An assembly neutralizes condensate trapped in effluent gases arising from oil and gas-fired heating systems. The assembly has an upper (1.1) and lower (1.2) housings linked by a sink-pipe (1.3). The upper and lower chambers are surrounded by a double walled cavity housing with outer (2.1) and inner (2.2) walls. The skink pipe has a distance ring (1.4) and guide plate (1.5). the lower end of the housing (1.2 or 2.1)has a bleed tube (1.6) or tap. The lower housing incorporates an active carbon filter cartridge (1.7) under a perforated compression plate (1.8) with a perforated sidewall (1.11).
