The headlights of a road vehicle are in the form of light sources (5,6) whose outputs are fed into a large number of flexible optical fibers (7-10). The light entering the optical fibers is determined by controlled reflectors (13) and the effective direction and intensity fed to the headlights (11,12) is varied. Output from the optical fibers passes through headlight lenses (1-4).
