B = a double bond between groups A and A/ or a group of formula (i)-(iii); A = a group of formula (iv)-(vii); A/ = a group of formula (viii)-(xi); X = S, O, NR/, CR/R//, -CR/=CR/., -CR/=C(R7)-, -(NR/)+=C(R8) or -NR/-C=R9; R/ and R// = H or 1-4C alkyl optionally substituted by (SO3)-; R7 = a group of formula (I); R8 = a group of formula (II); R9 = a group of formula (ix); R1 and R4 = H, amino, 1-4C alkyl (optionally substituted by one or more OH or by an acid or acid anion group, especially (SO3)-), 1-4C alkenyl or formyl-, acetyl-, propionyl- or butyryl-amido; R2 and R3, R2 and (R3)/ and R5 and R6 each = H, 1-4C alkyl, formyl- or acetyl-1-4C alkyl ester or phenyl or together form an ortho-condensed cyclohexyl, benzyl or naphthyl group optionally substituted by 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, 2-4C mono- or poly-hydroxy-alkyl, halogen or formyl- or acetyl-1-4C alkyl ester or, further, (R3)/ can also be a group of formula (III) bonded to the ring by a double bond; and G = S or a group of formula (IV) which carries a positive charge and has a halide, ethylsulfate or 4-methylbenzenesulfonate counterion.
