Processing of digital cardiac radiographs so that small blood vessels are highlighted and other structure is suppressed by decomposition of an initial image into detailed images for highlighting and then recombination

Method for processing digital images, especially digital radiographs of heart vessels, whereby the digital image is decomposed into N detailed images of different location frequency and, if necessary, bandwidth. One or more of the detailed images is modified so that small dark structures are highlighted or amplified and or other structures are suppressed. After modification, the detailed images are recombined to form a complete image. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for processing of digital radiographs.
