Web guide between paired detaching rollers, e.g. at a comber, has a polished upper surface to support the web with structured side surfaces angled downwards at a gap from the lower roller mantles. The web guide (15) between two pairs of detaching rollers (W1,W2), e.g. at a comber, lies across the direction of web travel (T) to support the web (V). It has a mushroom-shaped upper surface (16) against the web material, with side surfaces (S1,S2) sloping downwards, and at a gap (a) from their facing roller surfaces (7,10) of the lower rollers (5,8). The upper surface of the guide is under the plane (E2) through the clamping lines (K1,K2) of the paired rollers, and above the plane (E1) through the rotary axes of the lower rollers. At least a part-zone (T1,T2) of the web guide side surfaces follows the contour of the facing lower roller mantle surfaces. The upper guide surface has a hard chrome polish.
