Determining the calibration interval time of electrochemical measuring sensors, involves providing a base interval time for a defined base value region, a relevant measuring parameter for fitting the calibration interval time or a medium to be measured; continuously acquiring the parameters; acquiring the deviation of the parameter values from the defined base value region; and fitting the base interval time. Determining the calibration interval time of electrochemical measuring sensors, especially pH meter, involves providing a base interval time for a defined base value region, a relevant measuring parameter (pH, T) for fitting the calibration interval time or a medium to be measured; continuously acquiring the parameters during the operation of the sensor when measuring the medium; acquiring the deviation of the acquired measuring parameter values from the defined base value region; and fitting the base interval time depending on the acquired deviation. Preferred Features: The continuous acquisition of the measuring parameters is periodically carried out, and the fitting of the base interval time to the corresponding periods is carried out iteratively. The material composition of the measuring medium, especially its concentration, is calculated in the fitting of the base interval time.
