-NOVELTY : The method involves scanning an entrance area of a lift (2) by laser radiations (7), and evaluating an orientation signal by an electronic circuit for influencing operation of the lift based on the evaluation. A determination is made that whether an object e.g. person, resides in a zone (A1) of the entrance area in an interval between entry of a conveying unit and measurement time period. Output signals are outputted by the circuit depending on the time period and the zone.
