The EEPROM (11) has at least two separate memory areas (29, 30). Each has a data set memory, (DA1, DA2, DA3) and (DB1, DB2, DB3) respectively. A third memory area (31) contains data pointers (P1 P2, P3) indicating valid memory area (29, 30). In a first stage (53), the microcontroller (10) stores a data set into data memory (DA1, DA2, DA3) or (DB1, DB2, DB3), in the invalid area (29, 30). In the next stage (54) the pointer is changed to make the invalid area valid. These two stages (53, 54) are repeated cyclically.
