Production of pressed spherical fuel elements involves sorting the fuel cores coated with pyro-carbon and silicon carbide after sintering and sieving by vibrating on a suitable plate; separating the coated particles after applying layers; and removing the encased coated layers by vibrating on a suitable plate from the non-round part of the particles. Preferred Features: The inclination angle of the sorting plate is 3-7% and the vibration frequency is 40-80 Hz. The sorted core fraction is dissolved in HNO3, and returned dropwise to the casting solution.
