Fireproof element comprises a core profile (4); a thermally insulating filling (5) surrounding the core profile; a cover (6) enclosing the filling; and an external cover strip (7) for fixing a component. The cover is formed as a supporting metal profile and is indirectly connected to the core profile and directly lying on the filling. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a fireproof element. Preferred Features: The cover is connected to the core profile indirectly via the filling. The core profile is completely embedded in the filling.
