Sanitary article comprises a ceramic composition (vitreous china) containing up 42-59 weight % SiO2, up to 35-52 weight % Al2O3, up to 0.5-2 Na2O, and up to 0.5 2 weight % K2O. Preferred Features: The composition further includes up to 0.5-4 weight % TiO2, not more than 2 weight % LiO2, not more than 4 weight % CaO, not more than 4 weight % MgO and not more than 4 weight % Fe2O3.
