The extractor fan assembly (17) with a fan (4) and grease filter (6), for the extraction of kitchen fumes, fits under a kitchen cupboard (23) to draw in the fumes from the cooking area in a recirculating air operation. An outlet opening (9) is at the front side of the housing (8) for an emerging recirculating air flow (11). The air flow acts with the front wall (21) of the cupboard as a flow along the wall or as an air flow parallel to the cupboard wall.
