The tool guidance device has an eccentric-motion drive unit (16, 17) driving a disk-shaped element (4) under a traveler (11) to engage with a tool holder (19). The rear jacket surface of the holder or tool (1) is designed to lie against the underside of the disk-shaped element as the traveler engages, imparting a hobbing motion to this element.
