A vehicle etc. with a water lacquer coat is dried within a drying booth having an air guide channel at the top supplied with conditioned drying air by a ventilator. The process air is guided by regulator flaps and/or reversal of the ventilator flow direction, alternately in different directions, e.g. vertically upwards, diagonally and/or horizontally to the booth. Due to this, the air flows alternately around the vehicle in such a way, that moisture content and temperature of the complete damp paint layer is homogenized. The drying booth has a drying chamber (10) with air intakes and outlets (8.1,8.2,9.1,9.2,9.3) and a blower (2) with at least three associated regulator flaps (5.1,5.2,6.1,6.2,7) to alter the air flow direction around the vehicle (30).
