The polishing disk (1) or roller is attached to a ring-shaped claw (3) at its center opening, to be disposed of as waste after use. At least one projection (4) is at the inner peripheral side of the claw. An adapter bush (6) is pushed into the center opening, with a groove (7) which corresponds to the projection, and fits over the polishing machine drive shaft (8), or the drive shaft has a fitting which locks with the claw groove. When a polishing disk is worn, it is removed from the adapter bush and discarded for replacement with a fresh disk.
