Broadband bi-directional communication, e.g. for broadband television, uses hybrid network architecture to form data downlinks and uplinks to subscribers via two-core telephone lines

A conventional unidirectional broadband communications network (CUBCN) (K) forms a downlink (DL) to a first subscriber (FS). A connection for the FS made via a two-core telephone line (TP) forms an uplink (UL) from the FS. The CUBCN transmits the same downlink data digitally to the FS and all other subscribers assigned to a specific section of the CUBCN. An Independent claim is also included for a communications system for broadband bi-directional communication using of hybrid network architecture.
