Optoelectronic component has a support body (14), an optoelectronic transmitter (16) of coherent light and a receiver (20) mounted on the support. An optical beam splitter (30) divides the transmitted light beam (a) into reference (b) and measurement (c) beams. The latter two are combined to form an interference beam (d) that is incident on the receiver. The beam splitter is held at a distance from the support by means of a spacer (26, 28). The invention also relates to use of the inventive component in a writing recognition system and in the tip of a wand type reader.
