A return device for reusable packaging material includes a housing (10) and at least one receiving container (26) for the packing material. Two receiving containers (26,26') are adjustable in the housing and of which one is of glass and the other of plastics and/or metal. The input chamber (18) comprises an identification device for determining the type of packaging and the chamber (18) has two outlet openings (48) assigned to one reception container and a feed mechanism for transporting the packaging into the area of one of the outlet openings, according to the size of the packaging, determined by the identification device.
