Permanent magnet rotor has a permanent magnet ring (6) consisting of compressed, polymer-bound rare earth magnets. This is mounted on a plastic mounting produced by injection molding around the ring. The mounting has a bearing section (10) and a pinion on a hollow shaft (8) section connected to it. Independent claims are included for: (a) a method for making the rotor comprising fitting the permanent magnet ring on a retaining ring and then injection molding the rotor around it; and (b) a drive system comprising the rotor and a lubricant reservoir in a casing which supplies additional lubricant to it.
