Light conducting LED members are formed by locating electrical components in an injection mould, evacuating the mould, and injecting a material through an injection opening

A process for producing light conducting LED members (20) out of flowable material before it solidifies, comprises injection molding. The injection mould is evacuated after electrical components have been placed inside. The opening through which evacuation takes place is located in the base (42) near electrodes. The flowable material is injected between the base and the chip, and normal to one of the electrodes. The central line of the injection stream is between the two electrodes. A vacuum is maintained in the mould during the whole injection process. The central injection line cuts the central LED line. The vacuum is achieved via a suction line which has an opening between the electrodes. The individual LED members consist of a light emitting chip (6) and wire electrodes (1,4) connected to it.
