The camera (1) snaps into the holder (5) employing a spring (7) loaded catch (8). The catch can be withdrawn by a button (9) to release the camera. A connector (10) is provided for connection to the vehicle battery (12) and a battery to provide an independent power supply for using the camera when detached from a holder. A second connector (11) forms an interface with vehicle electronic equipment for exchange of data which can be stored in a memory (15).
