A Laves phased hydrogen occluding titanium-zirconium-manganese-vanadium-iron system alloy. The alloy is expressed as Ti(1-x)ZrxMn(w-y-z)VyFez, where x is not less than zero and not greater than 0.5, y is greater than zero and not greater than 0.6, z is greater than zero and not greater than 0.2, and w is not less than 1.8 and not greater than 2.2. An Independent claim is also included for the concentration of impurities in it, its raw materials, and the concentration of impurities in them.
