The hydraulic control valve has a valve housing (20) and valve slider (14) and control piston (16). Either the piston or slider has on its outer circumference at least one detent groove (22) to engage a ratchet (24) which is mounted displaceable in a ram housing (32) and is spring-loaded towards the detent groove. The side of the ratchet facing the groove is loaded with hydraulic medium against the force of the spring (38) and can be connected to a pressure chamber (26) of the control piston. The pressure chamber is biased with pressure when the control piston is displaced.
