Production of a lamp tube comprises heating a hollow semi-finished tube (100) up to its softening point, deforming the tube along its longitudinal axis (103), hermetically surrounding the tube with a molding tool (110, 111), and pressurizing the hollow interior of the tube with a gas. The shape (120) of the molding tool is designed and the heating and cooling and deforming of the tube and the pressurization using the gas are controlled so that a non-rotationally symmetrical and/or concave inner and/outer shape (10-15) is achieved. Independent claims are also included for devices used for carrying out the process. Preferred Features: The outer shape of the lamp tube is defined by the shape of the form tool.
