The control unit for exchange of geographical coordinates with a navigation system, has path and angle signalers (10) for acquisition of Cartesian coordinates from a land or sea map, and an input device for input of the map scale and a reference coordinate. A computer converts the Cartesian coordinates and map scale into geographical coordinates for input via an interface to a navigation system.
