A unit for media reproduction uses a melody code to decode electronic sound/image data partially/totally encoded and to transfer from digital to analog domains. Data for electronic sound/image media is not available as a copyable digital data stream at any point in time without being encoded. Cryptographic encoding ensures transmission of melody keys on a secure path. An Independent claim is also included for a method for storing and reproducing copyright-/use-protected electronic sound/image media in a receiver.
