A planar photovoltaic solar module comprises solar cells (1) arranged and contacted on a thin special glass sheet (2) and laminated with a connection rail (3) and backside plastic foil (4). A second plastic foil (5) is glued to the front and the two foils extend beyond the glass sheet and form a watertight seal.
