The rail fastening incorporates a screw (13) engaging a sleeper (14). The head of the screw presses on a spring which loads a clamping plate (12) with angled teeth (22) on its underside. The teeth engage with matching angled teeth (21) on the top surface of a rail clamp plate (11). The plate has a fulcrum at one end bearing on the top surface of a plate (18) resting on top of the sleeper. A shoulder (17) bears against the edge of the rail foot, while a lug (15) extends over the top surface of the rail foot and holds it down.
