Lining for a bone implant, and especially a hip joint, has a three-dimensional particle structure bonded to the implant core, to give a primary bond on implantation and allow bone tissue to grow through for a secondary bond
The lining for use with a bone implant, between the implant and the bone, has an open-mesh three-dimensional structure of particles (5) bonded to a base core (1) of the implant. They are formed of four to eight pins (3), aligned radially from each other, with at least three bonded to the implant core with free extending ends (7) having cut-back sections (8). The free ends have flattened surfaces which form one-third to two-thirds or one half of the total surface area of the structure. The particles are in one piece with the implant core.
