Circuit arrangement comprises a circuit board with electrical and or electronic components and a microcontroller. When power is first supplied to the conducting structure a characteristic code or identifier is captured by the microcontroller and stored in non-volatile memory. An Independent claim is made for a method for allocation of a microcontroller to a circuit board in which a first identifier or code is recorded at first use, which is then used to compare with a value in subsequent uses. Only if the values agree is use of the microcontroller authorized.
