Method and device for haptic presentation of surface normals and surface strokes of 3D CAD free-form surfaces. Accordingly a plate can be tilted about two orthogonal vectors and is mounted so that it can be raised in a vertical direction. A hand or one or more fingers can be placed on the plate. Tilting angles and the lifting height of the plate correspond to properties of the internal CAD free-form surface.
