A pneumatic operation unit (1) has a pneumatic cylinder with a cylinder housing (3) that has a floor (4) and top (5). In the cylinder chamber (6) is a piston (7) with a piston rod (8) that passes through a sealed opening in the cylinder top. Control electronics (9) are provided to control a valve used to influence the pneumatic cylinder. The electronics are contained on a circuit board within a recess (10) in the of the pneumatic cylinder.
