A first connector (3) is provided for the engine test bed, a second connector (4) for the wire harness, and a third connector (8) for the engine control device. The second connector communicates via a programmable interface with the first connector. The number, arrangement and wiring of the connector contacts are defined for several encodings when data are transmitted from the engine control device and/or the wire harness to the engine test bed.
