To shape a molded component of large surface dimensions, by in-mold coating (IMC), a thermoplastic mat with glass fiber reinforcement is placed between the two mold half-sections of an open mold. The coating mass is injected into the mold through a hot channel, and again the mold is closed and opened a number of times to press out the mass over the mat surface.
