A monolithic ceramic material comprising micropores, meso pores, and/or macropores, is new. It is at least partially decomposable under physiological conditions. An Independent claim is included for producing a monolithic ceramic material comprising bringing a precursor material, water-soluble polymer, an amphiphilic substance and a hydrolysis catalyst into contact with one another, inducing the sol-gel transition of the mixture, at least partially removing and replacing the solvent in the gel or at least partially removing or replacing the solvent, drying the green body, and calcining the dried green body at no more than most 500 degreesC at any point.
