The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of alcohols from substrates by means of oxidoreductases, two-phase system comprise an aqueous phase and an organic phase as well as a device for the purpose of carrying out of the method. Dollars a according to the invention is the process for the preparation of alcohols from substrates by means of oxidoreductases characterized in that an oxidoreductase of microbial origin in aqueous solution and the substrate in an organic solution are initially introduced and that the aqueous phase and the organic phase in a two-phase system are brought into contact with each other. Surprisingly, with this method, the enzyme activities of a duration of approximately 1000 hours are observed. With the method according to the invention, the enzymatic reaction and the cofactor regeneration are spacially uncouples. In this way, the effectiveness of the useful be increased.
