Running wheel for use on overhead transportation system has conical running surface engaging overhead rail and has flexible braking ring engaging two wheels close together
Each wheel (1) has a groove to accommodate a circular-section braking ring (4). The braking ring joins two adjacent wheels in the manner of a drive belt. The groove for the braking ring may be to one side of the running surface of each wheel, or may be in the middle of the running surface. In the latter version, the circular-section ring may project just outside the line of the running surface.
