The wrapping mechanism (7) includes a rotor has a cylindrical hub (9) carrying three equispaced radial arms (10-10b) with suction pads (18) between them. A long band of wrapping foil (17) passes over the tips of the arms and is sucked inwards between them onto the suction pads. Groups of bottles (1a,1b), e.g. six-packs move along a conveyer (5) and impinge against one of the arms. As the rotor turns (16), the band is draped over the top of the group of bottles, and is pressed against the sides. the length of the arms may be adjusted telescopically.
