The stop surfaces of a scale attaching element (30) are arranged perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of a guide rail (11), to align linear encoder scale (21) in parallel to the guide rail. The stop surfaces of scale attaching element are engaged with the reference surfaces of the guide rail. An Independent claim is also included for linear guide assembly.
