The cage (1) may be loaded into a lorry or other form of transport and has a cage for the bird with a restraint jacket (2) and a breathing mask (3) fitting over the bird's beak. The mask is connected to a tube (4) forming one arm of a four-way junction (5). The other three arms have a valve (15) giving access to the environment and one-way valves (6,7). Air may enter through one valve and exit through the other. The exit tube (4a) goes to a junction (8) and a valve (10) gives access to a sealed piston (11) and a measuring bag (13). There is a timer (19), a thermometer (18) and a U-tube manometer (17) with a shutoff valve (16) and a measuring scale (17b).
