Method for increasing the watching of television programs in which iris recognition is used to determine which persons are watching the television. The observation direction of persons watching the television is periodically recorded and further processed. Based on the detected watching of television programs a pay-back process is honored. An Independent claim is made for a device for increasing television watching comprising an iris recognition unit, viewing direction detection unit and a device for calculating pay-back points according the recorded programs that have been watched.
