A slide piece (25) is so joined via anchor rope (6) and hangers (7) to a cone half (14) that when clamps (2) are operated or screwed into the slide (25), all cone or other connections are completed in firm readiness between grip (12) and end piece (8). The threaded spindle and slide or spindle and clamp sets are self-locking. The rope (6) is threaded in automatically and the alpenstock etc fits down smoothly and without distortion or other damage. The slide (25) has rails (27), entries and nontwist locks (29) and entry (30) to ensure smooth rope run without kinks. The spindle (24) is centered (26) in the slide prior to clamping fast.
