The method involves cooling cathode waste gas from the fuel cell system (2) to below the water dew point so that water contained within it is condensed out and extracting the water from the waste gas, and heating the cathode waste gas to a minimum temperature before it enters a chimney (19), whereby waste heat from the fuel cell system is used to heat the waste gas. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a flow generating heating device, especially for a building central heating and/or hot water supply system, with a fuel cell system.
