Operating method for a motor vehicle parking assistance system in which a motor vehicle is equipped with distance sensors (18) to detect the distance to an object to the vehicle side and a path sensor for measuring the distance traveled by the vehicle. As the vehicle drives past a parking space the sensors are used to determine its length and depth. The measured length and depth values are corrected using a correction value and-or the measurement frequency is adjusted according to vehicle speed. The invention also relates to a corresponding parking assistance system and a motor vehicle equipped with such a system.
