Method for mounting a sensor within a capillary-type metallic housing tube. Accordingly the sensor element is positioned in the end of the tube together with solder material. The tube is then heated so that the solder melts sealing in the sensor with an excess of solder so that it is completely surrounded. Typically the capillary diameter is 1.5 - 3.0 mm. Prior to soldering of the sensor element the inside of the capillary is tinned, while after soldering the capillary is washed to remove any remnants from the soldering process. An Independent claim is made for a sensor for measurement of one or more physical values of a fluid medium in which it is inserted.
