The handle (1) is of a cylindrical shape and provided with several longitudinal projections (11) alongside its inner surface which serve as guides for a sliding element (2) provided with matching projections (21, 211) on its outer surface. The umbrella is opened by pulling a ring (61) positioned at the very top and joined to a disc (6) which covers the opening on top of the combined handle and case (1) when the umbrella is folded and kept inside. The sliding element (2) engages with a ring located at the upper end (3) of the handle (1) when the shaft (5) shall be locked in an extended position and with a ring at the lower end (4) for keeping the umbrella secured inside the case (1).
