The folding top for a convertible motor vehicle comprises a side roof frame (10) with at least one front roof frame section (1) and a rear roof frame section (2). The front bow (3) is longitudinally movable on the front roof frame section by means of a linear guide and a gear linkage which allows the front bow to hinge upwards during an opening action. The gear linkage has a support link fixed on the front bow and a pivoting hook which is brought into communication with a yoke on the front frame (8).
