Method for vibration analysis of rotating or oscillating components with respect to amplitude and phase. Accordingly a sampling unit is used to record a vibration signal by time measurement of the position of teeth, flanks or detection of brightness changes or markings on the rotating parts. The actual division of markings is determined over a number of rotations. The signals are subjected to high pass filtering so that only the vibration component remains. Division errors for each tooth or marking are determined and used for on- or offline correction.
